Prestressed Flooring Bed
Macfab prestressed wide slab casting moulds are used to produce concrete floor slabs also knows as planks or decks. These slabs are often suspended by precast concrete walls, masonry walls or steel frame structures to create ground, first and multistorey floors in residential and commercial buildings.
Macfab moulds typically produce product widths of 1200mm to 2400mm and a standard depth of 150mm and 200mm. However, bespoke moulds can be manufactured to meet individual client specifications.

Some benefits of prestressed slab flooring are:
- Rapid erection on site providing immediate working platform (no propping required)
- Excellent acoustic and intrinsic fire resistance.
- Production can be carried out within a controlled factory environment allowing better quality control and reduced risk over site conditions.
- Can accommodate large service openings in excess of 10m ( very economical span : depth ratio)
- Does not creak, shrink, or bounce like many alternative floor systems.
- Can be installed between structural steel beam flanges thereby reducing floor depth
Macfab prestressed wide slab casting moulds operate a wet-cast principal which provides the following advantages over competing methods.
- Floor slabs cast to size rather than cut from stock
- Possible to cast openings in the product for services, pipes and ducting rather than cutting, coring or drilling.
- Possible to incorporate lifting and anchoring features into the product during production.
- Can be manufactured as solid slab or contain insulating cores which unlike hollow cores do not suffer same issues with condensation.
